Hi the forum seems pretty quiet, so ive decided to give you all a challenging puzzle......

post your answers below, and if any of you are correct i will let you know.

ok here goes.......get those thinking caps on.......

A SNAIL WANTS TO CLIMB TO THE TOP OF A WALL THAT IS 10 METRES HIGH.
BUT IT MOVES IN A VERY PARTICULAR FASHION: DURING THE COURSE OF THE DAY, IT CLIMBS 3 METRES.
AND DURING THE NIGHT, IT DESCENDS 2 METRES.
IF IT STARTS ITS ACCENT ONE MORNING, HOW MANY DAYS WILL IT REQUIRE TO REACH THE TOP OF THIS WALL??

hint... 10 days is not the answer.

well done!! you all got it correct! the answer was indeed 8 DAYS! im going to have to make this a little harder.......

Get your thinking caps on..............

A MASTER ASKS HIS PUPIL:

"I AM FOUR TIMES AS OLD AS YOU WERE, WHEN I WAS THE SAME AGE AS YOU ARE NOW.
I AM FORTY YEARS OLD, HOW OLD ARE YOU?"

hint: you may need pen and paper to work this out........

25?

Here's a puzzle from professor layton game that I'm currently playing:

A quiet road is lit by ten streetlights. Deep in the dead of night, the lights are blown by a power surge and all the lights are replaced.

Unfortunately, the new bulbs are poor quality, and one breaks every two hours. Finding it hard to keep up, the unlucky repairman only manages to bring a replacement bulb every three hours.

How many bulbs will still be lit after 12 hours?

Wait, so the master was 40 years older than the pupil when they were the same age? What?

there will be 4 bulbs still lit.......10 bulbs, one blows every 2 hours. that takes twenty hours for all of them to blow. the repair man replaces one every 3 hours. so how many 3's in twenty.....6 threes in twenty. therefore he can only replace 6 bulbs, which leaves 4 bulbs that are still lit.

pupil - is 25
bulb - is 8

I'll show my working out of these

pupil - Hidden

bulb - 10 lights 1 goes out every 2 hours, 1 gets replaced every 3 hours how meny are lit after 12 hours
12 / 2 = 6
10 - 6 = 4
12 / 3 = 4
4 + 4 = 8

8 is not the correct answer for the bulb puzzle (I also tried that first but Mr Layton wouldn't accept it  )

Hint: It is not a math puzzle

Zero. 12 hours after "Deep in the dead of night" is daytime, therefore, zero bulbs will be lit...I think...Right? Just a crazy guess...I don't know. :|
( I am an electrician, so this one "spoke" to me) 8)

well done to ToMeSS and TOONSKI, you both got it correct......But ill have to give first place to TOONSKI because he showed his working out. :)

Here is another puzzle.........

A master poses a problem to his pupil:

1. IT'S BETTER THAN GOD.

2. IT'S WORSE THAN THE DEVIL.

3. THE POOR HAVE IT.

4. THE RICH NEED IT.

5. AND IF YOU EAT IT YOU WILL DIE.

what is it?

Very good WILLYUMZ. :o I think i might have to up the difficulty a little...... :)

Ask yourself this:

"I AM A MAN. IF THE SON OF THIS OTHER MAN, IS THE FATHER OF MY SON, WHAT IS THE BOND OF KINSHIP BETWEEN THIS MAN AND MYSELF??"

good luck.........

ok here one for you

On a frosty night, you’re standing on a open field. You see several very old things including;
The teeth of Sabre tooth tiger.
The bones of a woolly mammoth
Diamonds
Gold
Cave man painting
But what is the oldest thing you can see.

diamonds? because diamond is carbon and when elements are formed from dying stars carbon is formed before gold because its less dense.
