Here's a little program called JoyToKey that allows you to remap keyboard inputs to your gemepad, here's the link:

(The file includes a preset config that works with a XBOX 360 gamepad, it's what I use)

I use Xpadder which is pretty much the same thing

It doesn't need installing and uses minimal resourses. Not sure how it compares to JoyToKey.

Yep it's seamless and doesn't need an install either, I prefered it to xpadder but both do the job, it's just a question of preference, thanks for providing an alternative though.
