What is the best way to land on a heavily slanted platform? i have got to grips with every other obstacle and jumps hops but on the parts where you need to land on a steep slant i always bounce too much and lose the balance...
do you hit it back wheel first then quickly lean forward and tap the gas a little?

lean forward BEFORE you land. so when you land on the slope, you are already leaning up hill. if you lean foward after you land, the back wheel will bounce up, and you'l lose grip, and fall.

Goldfinch is correct, also, make sure you are landing back wheel first. When I do it I wait to lean forward until the last moment, when you lean forward your back wheel goes down slightly, I try to time it so that me leaning forward is what makes the back wheel touch the platform. It's hard to get it right especially when you have lots of downward momentum though, it's hard to explain so I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

yeah i understand :) i will try to lean forward right just before my back wheel touches.. i will get to grips with this with practice... i go through inferno III fine until i get to the part where you have 3 slanted scaffold boards. i try to stop on the 2nd and 3rd boards but keep on bouncing upon landing!

Thanks for the tips guys!!

The 3 most important tips are:

1) Land backwheel first, but only just otherwise you'll tip over backwards.
2) Make sure you're leaning forward as you land otherwise, again, you'll tip over backwards.
3) Feather the throttle as you land. Too much gas and you'll either tip over backwards or you'll end up pogo'ing between front and back wheels as you try to get grip before usually falling off the bottom of the ramp.

In the end, like other obstacles, you'll just get a feel for it and you'll learn to read the ramp and you'll know the optimum speed and angle for a successful landing.

Another technique i learned from watchin Murdoc's (or Malachyte, not sure who came up with it first) runs over the years, is using the brake on an uphill angle. If you land on your back tire and accidently lean forward too hard, you will just roll off (by holding the lean position) unless you use the brake- which then you will land your back tire and can feather accordingly. This is one of the good stuff you can do adjusting on the fly with a different kind of technique in your arsenal. Ill look for a video of it if you want a better explanation.

I use a little tap on the brake to get my back wheel down if i bounce too much, really handy technique to have for quite a few extreme obstacles, especially when trying to do 0 fault runs.

Using the brake appropriately has been the biggest thing I've learnt in evo, didnt realise how useful it was in thd!

great advise guys thanks alot, i have just got to grips with using the brake alot more for example the technique where you land your front wheel on top of a edge and holding the gas and rapidly tapping the brake to lift your backend up.. use it as often as i can now lol.. im fairly new to this game, and loving it!! i had HD but never got into to much as i was always on Cod back then!

The method people have listed above is fine, but it is hard to time right on steep slants.

The faster way where you keep your momentum is:

1. Lean backwards as you are approaching the ramp.
2. Lean forwards right before your tire hits the slant.
3. As your tire hits the slant, lean backwards to absorb the impact.
4. Slowly lean forward as you throttle it so you don't flip backwards.

I know it sounds confusing to read, but it is what you have to do if you want a fast run on tracks like The Wreck and Dark City Run. Watch the top replays and you will see.

On very steep hills you want to hold lean forward for most of the time. On the other hand, going up a not-so steep hill it is better to not hold anything, except gas at parts so that your back wheel doesnt lose traction. This helps when you approach the top of a very steep incline as well.

As far as the landing method goes, the other techniques work just fine. You just have to make sure you lean forward almost instantly when you land, so that you can get the acceleration. ( unless your doing back-to-front tire technique, then you land leaning back, then lean forward and then back again really fast so that it gives you that little boost from the back tire.
