Xbox 360 Live Retribution
Bored with trialshd already so i thought id play a little T2SE before Evo releases...:)

Awaiting an email with serial number, but not sure how long that would take tho. No rush, i ordered a wired black controller (they didnt have that locally) so i should be playin within a week!

Any tips for a THD veteran but noob to T2SE? Mad respect to all elders.

Awesome! Welcome to the best game of all time!

People will tell you to get used to the keyboard, but after hours upon hours of playing THD with a controller, maybe your best bet actually is to keep your settings. I dunno. t2 IS easier with a keyboard, but I guess it's all about what we're used to.

Tips, hmm.. other than "don't fall" I'm not sure. The bike is a lot bendier than the Phoenix. It's slower to manoeuvre, and you'll soon find that many techniques that are common in HD won't work here. Conversely, there's a lot you can do with this incredibly fun and playable bike that you can't in HD. I always preferred the t2se bike, there's just this feeling that you can push it to its breaking point and do some really cool stuff. Not that you can't with the Phoenix, but.. it's just different.

I know you've had (or maybe still do? idk) world records on THD so there is good hope for you my friend. Many old HD players have made some impressive debuts on t2se in the name of familiarity with the genre. T2 is a bit more hardcore, I think this is accepted as truth rather than opinion these days, so if you can 0-fault all hard tracks before Evo is released, I know I'd be impressed!

Keep posting any specific questions you might have, we'll try to give you some good answers.

I don't recommend playing with controller I think Inferno is unbeatable that way....

Sure will do when i get started on it. I intend to watch alot of replays at first, study the bike a little bit then mess around and get a feel for it. The only WR ive had was on The Weakest Link <3...but that got taken away from like 3 guys in a few days and i havent attempted to really take it back lol. I hope to get one in T2 but who knows!?

I just cant play any games except Tinker with the keyboard. Hell, i dont even use the dpad on HD. Analog all the way for me. But i will accept your challenge and take Inferno with a controller.

When you actually start to play with keyboard PLEASE to god don't do it as wrong as the last HD guy trying to use the keyboard. :hand:

pointer on Left
middlefinger on Gas/brake
ring finger on Right

^ thats how the real pros do it ;)

- in trials 2 you can bounce off the ground
- when you start flipping you will gain endlessly "flip"speed (bike will glitch when you do it too fast(watch 90% of norfairs runs(not really)))
- you can actually compare 2 replays with eachother (glitch) by selecting the first replay, playing it and saving it as replay on your harddrive. then you GHOST another replay (i hope you know what that means :D) and after you started the ghost replay you go back to the menu and to replays and select the replay you saved in the first place. !"#¤ ill make a video

yeah i dont know .. just do ur thing ull find it out

That's not how the pros play. Thumb for brake obviously.

I have Xpadder I think which I use to remap the buttons for my wired Xbox pad.
I might still have the installation file if you want it (it's an older freeware version). I'll drop my Trials configuration file in there too if you like.
PM me your email and I'll do it when I can.

Thanks EF. I plan on hookin up my wired controller when it gets here. i dont think it would require any configuration.

I finally got a response from one of the devs with the serial number so i got on the full game last night....saw a few tutorial replays.

Im just curious, if some of you are familiar with the whiplash effect on HD (where you land on your back tire and lean forward, usually between a downward slope and flat ground) does it work the same way in T2? I noticed the same motion but instead the 2 tires would squeeze inwards. What is that?

That squashing of the suspension annoys me so much!
The Xbox controller does work out of the box, but the buttons don't map the same as Trials HD so I used Xpadder to mimic it as close as possible.
Also having the right stick for moving the mouse cursor is handy ;)

You get it instantly if you don't mistype your email address OR if you click "proceed" (or something similar) on your screen after your payment has been verified.

I find using an Xbox360 controller makes my times slightly faster, other than that, all I can say is practice practice practice!

I've zipped up Xpadder and the config files I use if anyone wants to try it out for themselves.
Most buttons are the same as Trials HD except the bumpers (change camera angle) and the right stick (move mouse cursor and click in for left click).
Use the start button with caution though. It does pause but it is also the original button for restart track and sometimes restarts when you pause. Better off just using ESC for that.
I don't think it needs installing either. It just runs without it (very small program using minimal memory)

3 Files.
Xpadder.exe

Trials 2 SE custom mapping.

First time i paid was with G2S (gate2shop, i think) and that site said it was down and the payment would not be verified, so i tried again with Paypal only to end up mistyping my email address.

But i have T2SE now...and its pretty sweet, a nice break from HD!

I still suck at T2 even with a controller....is it just me or does the bike take forever to react to all your inputs?

I had more trouble trying to keep both wheels in contact when going up a steep incline.

Inferno, Diablo and YSNP are passable with the controller I've done it. I use a wireless xbox controller with JoyToKey to play. I can't get used to the keyboard. I'm not all that great at t2se, but I am the highest ranked player with cypher in his name at 1878. :snooty:

My advice would be to play on the lowest graphics setting in a window instead of full screen. Also the D-pad is definitely better than using the analog stick even if you use the analog in HD. Your practice in THD should help alot, but it's definitely not the same as hd. You have to pay more attention to the way your bike lands and it takes longer to correct yourself so keep that in mind. The bike doesn't react nearly as fast as in HD. You can still do the back wheel bounce though. :-D

What name are you using in T2SE?

I found a xKBMxZERO, but it doesn't show as having completed all the tracks..

xKBMxZERO2 - i made xKBMxZERO a couple of years ago but lost the key so i had to buy it again. I played through only the easy tracks on xKBMxZERO and then got bored. I should also add that i have not played all the downloaded tracks yet. Maybe someone could explain to my the ranking system. It makes no sense to me.

Well I just simply want to understand the system. Is it similar to trials hd? How is it im ranked 5000 when I dont have single rank worse than 2k or 3k. that just doesnt compute in my head.

You can get 100 points maximum per track, depending on your rank and total completions on it. The sum of all tracks determines your global rank. For the tracks you haven't completed yet, you get 0 points. Every track counts except the 3 wheelies.

You can see your points and improvement history here: http://bagill.com/trials
